Student Support
At Whitley Bay High School, we believe that every young person should feel valued, supported and inspired to become the very best version of themselves. Our approach is built on positive relationships, high expectations and a strong culture of belonging, where every student is known, encouraged and empowered to thrive. We recognise that students achieve their greatest success when they feel safe, confident and connected, and our dedicated staff work closely with students and families to ensure that every child feels part of our school community.
We are proud to offer an extensive range of pastoral support that meets the diverse needs of our students throughout their time with us. From the daily guidance provided by form tutors, Heads of Learning and pastoral teams, to targeted support through our Student Support Team, we are committed to helping students overcome barriers and fulfil their potential. Our Student Support Team includes experienced staff and our School Counsellor, providing additional emotional and wellbeing support to those who need it. Alongside this, our SEND, Pupil Premium and attendance provision ensures that students and families can access the right support at the right time, enabling every young person to engage fully in school life and achieve their goals.
Student wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do. We understand that young people can face a variety of challenges both in and beyond school, and we are committed to creating an environment where students feel listened to, respected and supported. Through our comprehensive network of pastoral services, specialist support, strong partnerships with families and a focus on nurturing confidence, resilience and independence, we help every student develop the skills, character and self-belief they need to flourish both at school and beyond.
